i have a new 2000 dakota w/ v6 & 5-spd. from a cold start takeoff in the morning the engine acts as if it runs out of fuel on the 1-2 shift and the 2-3 shift. i shift @15mph for the 1-2 shift and @25mph for the 2-3 shift. the hesation occurs right at these points. it dosen't do this when its warmed up. i took it to the dealer and he said that this is just a characteristic of this eng/trans application. has anyone else had this kind of prob? thanks in advance.

I can relate! I have a 2000 with a 4.7 V8 5-speed and I have the same hesitation problems on the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts during the first 5-10 minutes of operation. When they come out with one for the 4.7, I wonder if a Mopar Performance computer will help???

From past experience on when a new model/option comes out, aftermarket goods start showing up around 6 months to a year after they are released. A Mopar rep told me that a cat-back exhaust and a cold air intake would be available this fall/winter, so maybe a computer upgrade will surface as well (one similar to the Magnum R/T version for the 5.2's). I can't confirm that though.

I'm sorry, the information I just gave was for the 4.7L V8. I am not sure as far as the V6 goes. Seems like something would already be available for that motor.
