Default Cold Air Intake

I am looking at the Amsoil/Injen Cold Air Intake. The dyno-tuned for my vehicle part is appealing
but
I can't find any test results. Testamonials only say "it felt like" and, I need more than that.

I would appreciate any feedback on your experiences.

A "performance tuned intake" for a 1/2 million mile motor? I would not waste my time on that, but if you think it'll get a few more ponies out of it, Mopower to ya.

Oops. Actually, it is for the replacement truck; a 4.7 Tundra with 20,000 miles on it.

cold air is one of the cheapest ways to make horsepower. You get 1% increase in hp for every 10 degrees you lower air temp to the carb. Under the hood, it can get hot. On my 600 horse Cuda, I use a ram air box. Lowering inlet temp by 50 degrees gets me 5% more power, or 30hp!! All for about $125!!!

I've always questioned the value of air intake systems on newer vehicles.

On a lot of the 90's stuff, the cheaper ones were far WORSE than the factory stuff.

It replaced the factory stuff with a bunch of shiny pieces, but moved the air source from outside the engine compartment to inside (warmer not colder)

A good one will see some improvemnt, the argument is always how much.

The tundra will already draw air from a fairly cool source. Take a look at the kit they are pitching you, and see what you think it will do.

Also important to take a look at how well the components fit together. I've seen diesel cold air kits that come apart while driving, and leave the engine breathing unfiltered air.

I agree, its the older cars that will probably benefit most!
