Confused converting from 2 barrel to 4 barrel (kickdown)

when converting from 2 to 4 barrel do you need to change the kickdown rod, or just the throttle bracket, and return bracket, im wondering if i convert my 2 barrel monaco to 4 barrel, can i use my kickdown rod, and change just the brackets or do i have to find a longer kickdown rod of a factory 4 barrel setup that is interchangeable. i use the same kickdown when i changed out my 904 lockup to a 1976 727 nonlockup, but i use the 904 kickdown lever. on the tranny. need some help.

If you retain the cars OE 2bbl. kickdown linkage, you can install a nut and bolt to adjust where the carbs arm contacts it earlier. Use a nylon lock nut and two washers on each side.

Swaping linkages from car to car doesn't allways work.

Default Kickdown

A&A Trans sells adjustable levers that work really good you might want to check into them.

I've run into it where you can use all the stock linkage before with a swap. I've seen some that just need the top rod from the carb to the kick down. If you can't find what you need, you can always use a lokar cable and rid yourself of the kick down all together.

Bouchillon also sells adjustable cable-operated k/d adapters. The key here is where the new carb linkage attach point is located in relation to your original carb attach point. You'll need to figure out the difference and accomodate that. Plus, going to cable usually reverses the k/d operating direction (push to pull) and you need to accomodate that as well. Not rocket science, but needs to be allowed for. That said, some minor fabrication of the oem rod linkage will work as long as the new carb has a Chrysler-type throttle lever.
