97 Dakota lights, sometimes go out, help!

sometimes headlights go out completely at night, the parking lights will still be working though........has anyone else experienced this problem? It has me scared to drive at night!The truck is out of warranty and I would like to be able to fix it my self if anyone has any suggestions.........thanks.

Lets see here. Might be a problem with a relay or loose connection. Could it also be a bad light switch. Because if the running lights stay on and the main lights cut off. The switch may be loosing contact with the main lights.

Does switching from low to high beam make a difference? I have replaced multifunction switches for this prob a few times.
