I thought that the gap was suppose to be .040 on the 5.9 but I decided to try the autolite platium pro plug and Autolite claims a .035 gap for that plug
and .040 on there std. plug Has anybody tried these plugs ...? ------------------ |

It could be something to do with the plug, I'm not sure though. It also depends on the year of the engine. I've been through 2 318 magnums, my old 93 and my 97. Basically the same engine. Maybe the computer changed things, but the factory recommended gap on the 93 was .035 and on the 97 its .040. (Although with my jacobs it's at .060)

I'm currently using the autolite 3923 which is 1 heat range colder than the stock heat range (3924 in Autolites). I've seen a dyno test slip that indicated the autolite 3923 produced an added 3-5 horse power in a 318, (over champions)so I decided to try them. They idle a little rough on startup, but when warm run very good. I also tried the 3924s which I will swap back to in winter. these were excellant at idle and after warm up. My 318 loved those things.
