Default Cereberus deal fails with GM, eyes Hyundai next.

Deals with Nissan and Renault still potentially viable. It'd be nice if the Devil Dog Corp doesn't screw this up, but this is starting to look like a looming disaster.
Glad the GM deal failed though, I can see no way it would have ended good for Chrysler.

The GM deal was probably going to simply remove a competitor from the scene. GM is no better off then Chrysler in the current state of affairs.
The answer is in our collective back pockets. The sales of foreign branded vehicles is profit to foreign countries. It matters not where they are built, what matters is the US currency is benefitting foreign countries. I'll be damned if there is a good reason to buy foreign. Every single sale of a foreign vehicle deducts from the backbone of our manufacturing/engineering industrial base. For God's sake, we just gave the contract for the Airforce refueling tanker to a European state subsidized cartel.
How in the world did the best aircarft builder in the world get passed over?
We are fast becoming a service economy. So long, the greatest economy in the world!

Yepper, the only way to save this economy at this point is to bring manufacturing back to this country and cut our dependence on foreign goods. Every economy and/or society that has ever become a service/consumer based system has failed and crumbled. Its getting to the point that if you want to buy something, you cant even find an American built product and you are forced to buy some Chinese garbage instead. I have been looking to get a turkey deep fryer for this thanksgiving, but I cannot find anything that isnt made in China. It sucks that Im going to end up buying yet another piece of cheap, foreign crap that probably wont last very long.

Well, good! Maybe it's time Cereberus just got their act together and started managing things instead of trying to fire sale everything.
Even if I wasn't a Mopar fan, it's kind of obvious that the world economy is going to be in an upheaval for awhile and it might make better sense to settle down and stick to running the business. Time to do something about all the trashing and crap that has been out on the net and elsewhere about Chrysler. Take some time and repair the trashing of Chrysler's reputation, it only makes sense if you want to increase something's value.

to help the problem of the company i think they should eliminate a few vehicles from chryslers fleet such as the viper, eather the durango or the aspen also the commander since its nothing more than a grand cherokee. maybe dropping a few things and pinching some extra mpg out would help?

Wink

Yeah, Eliminate some of the SUV gas guzzelers and make a bread & butter sedan that has great fuel mileage & unequaled quality. Make this car a building block back to profitability.

Apply the same idea to a bread and butter sedan that Ma Mopar had with the Road Runner when they first came out.

Strip it down to the bare necessities, nothing fancy, keep it simple. Add in good MPG and reliability.

I never got winded rolling down a car window (vs. electric windows).

The probability that Chrysler will even exist 1 year from now is small...
