Question TF-904 Valve Body

Hello Guys

Just wondering if they make a manual/automatic reverse valve body ie. PRN123 or can I modify my existing unit?? I realize there are full manual units in both standard pattern and reverse but I am not looking/wanting full manual. If this is not possible how do you change the shift points?? I currently have a shift improvement kit in my 904 but the shift points are set at 4500rpm I would like them higher. I have a Hurst promatic 2 floor shifter but cannot get the feel of shifting an auto....1/4 mile times are lame when I try to manually shift so I just put it in drive and go...I am just so used to manual transmissions. I do not run slicks so starting out in first just spins the tires I just cannot get the hang of how to launch it. I would prefer a 4 speed but right now I well just work with what I have.

Thanks in advance
Nick D.

I think you need to change/modify the governor to raise the full-throttle shift points, but we need John K. to explain this further.

To my knowledge there are no reverse pattern automatic valve bodies.

You can purchase governor kits for several specific rpm's.

http://www.aandatrans.com/Department...rnor-Kits.aspx

Keep in mind that these kits won't always make the 1-2 upshift at the same rpm as the 2-3 upshift; if you want both upshifts at the same rpm you might have to go into the valve body and change springs in the shift valves.

Because this is a lot of bother and expense I would work on perfecting your manual shifting skills.

Thanks John

I agree with you on the fact I well have to work on my shifting skills but I was thinking there has to be a better way.LOL What baffles me is you can take a valve body (fwd pattern PRND21) and make it full manual. So with that thinking why can you not take a reverse pattern full manual valve body and make it manual/auto?? Just food for thought. Anyway thanks for the info I had a feeling it was not possible. May work on the shift points though.
