Can the box gradually get weak and create less spark? I don't mean quit completely.
Thanks, MOC

We ran an orange box on an IMCA Mod with an alternator. There were no problems even for 20+ laps and at 6500+ rpm. The coil and ballast were stock.

Are you using an alternator?

I ran an orange box on my slightly modified 318, I run an accell ignition system and the box just faded over about 7 months I would come rolling to a stoplight and the moter would quit, then it would start right back up, I replaced it with another orange box and have not had a prob with it yet, its been 2 years.

I've had a few boxes die on me in the past.Only one was an orange box.I never noticed them losing power, just the car would die for no reason. Then it would start happening more and more often until one day it just wont restart. The thing is this always happened about a week or so after giving somebody a jump or hitting the fast charge setting on my battery charger after running the battery down.I stopped giving jumps and disconnect the battery when charging. No problems since.

Check the condition of your plug that fits on the box. I had a problem similiar, and one of the brass connectors opened up. I crimped it slightly with needle nose pliers.
