I built a 440 for a friend thats got six pack p/d height + head cc=9.8 comp with a engle .538 hyd 285* 110cl, tm6 single plane 830cfm annular and full length headers that revs 6800rpm all day and before the cam change would hit 7200rpm with stock main bolts and stock replacement rod bolts.

stock oiling system max rpm 72-7500rpm MAX

I wouldn't take a stock cast iron crank more then 6800=7000rpm and for only a wink.

7200 with stock main cap bolts? Seems risky!

I don't really know the answer but I have heard more than a few times around the pits at the local drag strip if you run your big block over 6500 rpm you have a good chance of picking it up in pieces. But then again big blocks make their torque at lower to mid rpms so you don't have to except maybe the top end of the quarter mile.

My car goes through the traps about 71-7200 (depending on which tires I have on) with stock caps and bolts and has been since the seventies. Only once since 71 I spun a rod bearing, never a main problem, Paul.
