Default stroker+sandwich motor mounts. Whats my best option?

I have pulled to many of them apart with my 70 340 cuda. A 408 ci stroker and a higher stall, ( 3500) that sandwich mount hasn't got a chance..........are the ears the same between the old and new(73 and up) style?

Does any body sell the mouthing ears for a new style .....or am i on my own to fab up my own( Not a fabricator, or welder for that mater) I'm sure i could find someone to weld then on.

Or is there a better way????????

Schumacher offers a "Poly-Loc" mount that won't pull apart.

Mitymounts are basically the same thing.

Many folks just drill through the mount and install a couple of countersunk head screws and locknuts to prevent separation or run a torque strap between the block and the frame.

for a full race car, them would be grate.........Would probably send a little bit too much vibration up the steering wheel for my likeing.........Maybe not, but i thing i will try that in an other car.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Cudafever, I run the moroso solid mounts bulldog mentioned and believe it or not there isn't really much vibration noise as compared to any other built solid camed/headered 2 1/2 piped a-body

The other thing would be to torque strap it or weld a loop and bolt w/nut spot welded and through the loop, grasp?

Cool

Cudafever,

I run the Schumaker torque strap with sandwich mounts for the last 6 or 7 years with no problems. Take a look at it's design, you dont have to weld it in, and you still have rubber to isolate the engine vibrations. It's a well designed setup I can guarantee you will like.

i just get a good solid piece of tubing around 1 inch in dia.and weld a nut on both ends then screw in a nice eye bolt you now the ones with the bushings in them and bolt it to the head on the drivers side ,then get a large thick washer like the ones used for shocks and a grade 8 bolt with a urithane washer and bolt it threw the k-frame to the other end of the tubing .it's cheep and easy and don't look bad.i've also did this with polished stainless steel for my freinds hot rods too.

Cool

Cudafever, I have been using one for the last 6 years approximately. So no, it is not new, been around quite a while, and like I said, I have had zero problems with mounts since using it.

Cudafever, glad to be of some help. I believe in giving props where they are due and Schumaker is deserving of props for this piece. It flat does the job.
