Default Does by bottom need a girdle?

I know my fat a$$ could use a little support but that is not the questions.

I am proceeding with some needed and performance updates to the Duster’s 451. The main update is the replacement of the steel ported 452 (79cc open chamber) heads to aluminum Brodix B1/BS (65cc closed chamber) heads. This, in conjunction with a carb and intake update from a Holley 850 db and M-1 manifold to Holley HP 1050 with Eddy Victor 383. The new carb is metered blocked and jetted for E-85 alcohol blend fuel. So no more pump 92 octane. The engine head upgraded increase flow on the intake side from 180+ cfm to 230 and compression from 10.25:1 to approximately 12.5:1. The heads will also go from bolts to head studs. Cam shall remain 312 degree duration at .590 lift solid flat tappet lifters.

My questions are: Since the updates to most of the top part of the motor should increase horse power from the near 500 to near 600 horse range. (According to my math.) Is a bottom end girdle needed? I know it would be nice to have but as you can imagine money is now being more of an issue due to the update costs. Or is 600 horsepower really not enough to warrant a girdle?

My second question is: Can a girdle be installed safely to the mains without taking the whole bottom end apart? I know the best way would be as the crank and mains are being installed, but I don’t see any harm just taking the end caps off, install girdle, then torque back down with the new studs provided with girdle.

We are excited to see what these H/W updates and new fuel system will do. I am anticipating about ½ second increase in time (to about 10.4) and about a 10 mph increase in ¼ mile speed due to the power and RPM increase. I am again anticipating a top RPM increase from 6800 to 7000-7200. Just within cam max specs.

Please feel free to think out loud. As you can see I used the word “anticipate” twice, and there in itself may be a concern.
Thanks

I have a 600+ hp 496. Was told to use studs on the main caps, and that I should be okay if I'm only around 6000 once in a while. But I think you should do it for the insurance policy factor. Especially if you race it hard a lot. When I built my engine, they did not have a girdle available, or I would have used one.
