Question

I have a 5.2L 1994 Dak. Whenever I try to start the truck cold it usually takes about 10 seconds of key turning to get it to start. Once its warmed up It will start up just fine. Anyone know what could be causing this and how I could fix it?

Thanks,
james

There is a TSB to reflash to PCM for this problem. I can't remember the number, but the dealer should be able to find it. Should cost about 50 to 80 bucks. If they want more, go to another dealer. This can be done ONLY at the dealer.

you didn't say how many miles or what your base timing is, check base timing, maybe t-chain wear has retarded mech. timing. also what fuel? going to a higher octane can change propagation rate and will start faster

Defrag, I had that problem last fall when the weather started getting cold. I changed the starter and everything has been great from there on.

BTW, welcomme to the board!
