It's not a 9 3/4.
That year of vehicle would have a 8 1/4 or a 9 1/4. 9 3/4 is the dana 60. by those years only 3/4 or 1 tons got dana's. It would be a full float version. It is a common misconceptiuon/myth that the the 9 1/4 is a dana of some kind or even the 9 3/4 dana 60, when it is nothing of the sort. There are some good pics in the archives to id the diff by the cover. |

Okay.......
I have to ask. Is the 9 3/4 a Dana 60? This is NOT what I have always been told.

Every 9.75 ever found in mopar was the dana 60. Used in the early muscle cars, and the full float versions in the trucks.
Ford has a 9.75 in it's current F150's but ti is a ford diff, and not a dana. |

Probbably a 9-1/4" corporate rear axle, they were pretty common in late 1970's to early 1990's trucks.

My mistake.................
The 9 3/4 is the Dana 60. Bust a gut and you won't break it unless you go beyond what it is designed for.
