Default 340 Intake Manifold

Hey guys i sort of have a problem i dont know what intake to choose from i have a LD-340 Intake and then i have a elderbrock performer wich one should i use on my mildlly rebuilt 340? I have heard that the LD-340 intakes are better than the performer intake but im not for sure!Wich ever on i choose will have to be shave down a little so i can fit on my block because i had the block surfaced.

There is no comparison between the Performer and the LD340 performance wise. The Performer is not much if any better than the stock cast unit. The LD340 will carry your to at least 6500 with out a problem. It is very comparable to the Airgap in performance. Disregard arrow.

BTW, it's generally a better idea to have the intake face of the heads surfaced to compensate for a lower deck height than to surface the intake to fit due to fitment problems when the intake is swapped to another engine or used with a different set of heads. My 2 cents

Right on: only under extreme circumstances should you trim the intake to fit. On small block trim the intake side of the heads .0095 for every .010 off the face. .020 or so usually will not need this done. Milling the intake makes the intake usable only with the combo it was milled for without further machining done in order to make it work down the road on some other application. Milling the intake side of the heads makes either or usable down the road without further machine work and makes for much better resale value.

Wise words above, very wise, pay attention and follow the advice.

LD-340 intake....very very gooooood.
Mill heads intake face, not the intake, smart.... very very smart.

Heres a used one i picked up and modded as per the MP engines book. Milled divider and port matched. Can't figure out what the previous owner did with all that weld on the side. Anybody got a clue?
