w5 heads questions
Hello,
just purchased a set of new w5 heads. New to the w-thing, I have a few questions: -will tti w2 headers work with theses heads in a 69 barracuda? -will w2 style rocker arms fit this heads? I need longer valves compared to stock heads i was told. who makes rockers that last? will be street-driven. Thanks Chris |

W2 & W5 can use the same rockers/valve train.
Intakes?, well the thing is the W5's are rectangular port while the W2's are oval plus the W5's are a raised intake port ,so no. As for headers it depends on the bolt spacing, wide spaced bolt pattern yes, otherwise no your tti w2 headers wont fit if narrow bolt space, the bolt pattern is the catch and dependent factor. port wise they do, but like stated above. Good heads though. |

rocker arms are the same...
intake manifold have the same bolt spacing but as noted w2 oval, w5 rectangel and usually need come kind of spacer on the end of the blocks due to be raised. heads...w5 will have the wide race spacing on the exhaust ports, w2 can have either wide or narrow or both... other problem with w2 headers on w5 heads is that the w5 exhaust ports are raised about 1/4....headers might hit thing on w5 heads that they did not hit on w2 heads..... |

Could be an expensive project.
http://www.fastengineparts.com/sub_c...p?mid=11&id=41 may have good prices on Ferrea valves etc. (talk them down, they're a wholesaler) Most mopar heads are meant to be ported. Check out lousy 0.300 lift number on "as cast" heads (2.02 intake?), then 0.300 number for ported 2.08 valve head. http://www.shadydellspeedshop.com/w5.htm Unless the heads are for show they want a high lift cam, solid or hydraulic roller. Magnum block would be a good start for hydraulic roller. http://www.bulletcams.com/ Comp Cams has quiet street solid rollers. This may be one http://www.compperformancegroupstore..._Code=LACAMMRM Here's a W5 build article by Popular Hotrodding using Erson rockers. http://popularhotrodding.automotive....410/index.html Good luck |

w5 heads oil thru the shafts,
magnum blocks oil thru the pushrods...and have no provision for oiling the shafts.....to use the magnum block you will need to figure out someway to get oil to the shafts... |

With the mag block you'll have to drill the boss to the cam bore, it's there like an LA block just undrilled, which will require some sorta jig with drill press since the block won't fit on the kwik way, at least not the one I have at the shop.
However you can plumb a line to the lifter galley and tap just below the block deck as to not have to try and drill all the way to the cam journal, just a lil to reach your line. It's not that big of a deal, you'll just have to disassemble it plumb yer lines then clean and reassemble. |
