I know this really isnt a performance question..not yet anyhow but I'm currently taking a 3.0 to the streetable limit and am wondering if anybody knows how much can be milled off the deck surface safely? Thanks...PRO..

The spec for deck flatness is .002 with a service limit of .003. The combined total that can be taken off the deck and head is .008. FWIW, I'm rebuilding a 3.0 for a Caravan.

Alex,I realize what the service limits are, what I'm was really looking for is how thick the deck in the head is,so that I can mill at least .060 to raise compression,is the deck thick enough to withstand this much removal?the service limit is set at .008 so that the timing belt/cam relationship wont be significantly altered.I have degreed keyways that should handle the closer than stock crank/cam relationship and can alter the tensioner position if necesary, thanks though...PRO..

Sorry Pro, I don't have that answer. What are you using for valve train? I bought replacement valves (from Northern) and they are thinner than guide ID spec, not sure how I will handle that yet as the guides do have some taper. Do you have a way to change cam timing? Stock parts don't allow much fiddling. Alex
