Arrow 440 fuel pump ??

ok so whats a good mechanical fuel pump to put on a 500hp 440? any certain pressure or gph i should be looking for? how about inlet sizes and such. searching around summit i've found a holly, carter, and edelbrock that are all close so i'm just looking for the reason to get one over the other that will feed this beast

I would go with the Carter Competition series or the Edelbrock performer RPM. You'll also need to upgrade your fuel system to 3/8" (sender to carb).

Exclamation pump

ya i was looking at the carter, but it only has i think 1/4" npt fittings, will i be able to use 3/8" line? the edelbrock pump has 3/8" inlet and outlet already but is $140! i could go with an electric pump in that area.

Thus the reason I recommended the competition series. The Competition series use a -10 AN (5/8") inlet and a -8 AN (1/2") outlet. Summit only lists the small block version.

The Edelbrock 1723 pump uses 3/8" in and out.

Does the Carter pump need a regulator?

You'll need to read the specs of the fuel pump. However, I think that they only produce 8½ psi at max.

The Carter mechanical pumps don't need an external regulator. The Strip pump flows 120 GPH @ 8.5 PSI. Should be plenty to feed your engine. Part # is (in the Summit catalog) CRT-M4862.

Negative 1/4"NPT is the equivalent of the 3/8" line..

all w.o.g. (water, oil, gas) apparatus, are rated n.p.t.,n.p.t. only means National Pipe Thread, bolts and such are rated national fine or national course, 1/4 and 3/8 are not interchangeable no matter what the thread pitch is.

You dont want 8.5 into a Carterbrock carb. 5lb is preferred. 7 is good for a Holley. 8.5 is high for anything. Deadhead regulator wont hurt a mechanical, but will kill an electric.
