Question

I'm in the process of looking for a fan for my dak and was trying to decide between the Hayden 7310 and a Summit fan. What would be the CFM need to cool the V8 with air? The 7310 is rated at 1900 and according to the Hayden it's only good up to a 4.0L engine but I know of other V8 Daks who run this fan with no problem.

Any suggestions appreciated

no problems with my Hayden 3710, and that's with a calculated ~330hp. 244.8 RWhp...

Thanks Jon,

Got the part # wrong, was the 3710. When you mounted the fan did you use the core through method with the weird looking nails or did you use another way? What did you do with your coolant overflow bottle? Mine mounts to the rad shroud and I can't use the shroud with the new fan. Looking forward to the extra horses it will free up not to mention the increase in gas mileage!
Thanks

yessir, I actually didn't use the copper nail mounts, rather I used the plastic ones w/ a spring. It's easiest installed if you pull the radiator, which only takes about 5 minutes. This is also prime time to replace both upper and lower radiator hoses.

as far as the overflow tank, I just got some metal strapping and fabbed up my own mount for it. You could also hack the left side of the stock fan shroud off, and use it solely as a overflow tank mount...

Went down to the local parts store to order the 3710 and discovered that I could get two 12" fans (3680) cheaper than the 3710! The 3680's have a little less CFM rating but because of the increased surface area on the rad they should be more efficent!

you'll have a heck of a time making them fit. I bought those 2 fans and it would have taken quite a bit of fab work to make them fit... at the time I couldn't afford the downtime on the truck to make them fit.

Auuggg! Why won't they fit! I figured since the rad is 25" wide they should work. I WAS going to mount one high and the other low so they would fit even better. Where did you have a problem? I Know the 4X4's have more you between the motor and rad then the 2WD (brother has a 4X4 and has about 1" more room).

Thank Jon

I tried that too they CAN be made to fit, but they won't be up near the fins (which closer is better).. if I recall correctly, the fan housings are much larger in dia than you'd expect.

you won't have any cooling probs with the 3710, only time mine runs is at redlights in the summertime.
