Default Six-Pack Power Secrets

Hey everyone, I'm 20 and currently enrolled @ RCS/AMS Engine Machinist School. For class next year, I will be designing and building a 440 Six Pack engine for my dad's 1970 GTX. I will be doing all the machine work, including porting, and dyno tuning on it as well. I am going to try to squeeze as much power out of it as possible, while still using 93 octane pump gas. I am considering buying Promax's metering plates for the outboard carbs, but I would like to know if anybody here has any other power secrets for building a stout six-pack engine. Any input is greatly appreciated.

Hello, you mentioned porting. Im big on the heads as being the main power source of the engine. Get a set of closed chamber heads and make sure they have the bigger valves, port them like you said you will. Also a performance cam of a lift around .480 and duration .295..... something like that.... many parts to check out.... just read and research.

If looking for most power, check the Stock Cheater cams. They are hard ro beat if you stay with the hydraulics, and even if you don't. Pay attention to the machine work, use honing plates and correct stones for your rings. With closed chamber heads, good quench distance and a helathy cam you can propably use pretty high CR even if you retain iron heads. Try to use light pistons and rods. Of course the metering plates with changeable jets will help the tuning.

Buy the Mopar book on "Big Block Engines" and the "How to Hot Rod Big Block Mopars" and the "How to rebuild big block Mopars". Read them all thoroughly about three times, take notes make tabs, and do everything precisely.
