Axle?
im taking the rear axle out of my 73 satilight wagon 9 1/4.im putting a 8 3/4 out of a 65 furry 2 door big block car.now if i transfer brake shoes/trums from the 9 1/4 to 8 3/4.will it work

I check the brake section in my 72 service manual, and didn't see anything that said it would not, but I can't be any more help. Maybe some info in here:

The 9 1/4" brakes wil fit a '65 and later 8 3/4".

Were it me I owuld just leave the brakes that are there and bolt them to the axle that you are putting in. If you are careful you may be able to get by without even disrupting them in the switch leaving them carefully hang.

well the 8 3/4 has new seals and,shoes.but the springs have been "RIGGED", drums are trashed. just trying to save some $$$$ . i was wondering about the backing plate being differnt.thanks for help
