Default Heat Valve

I have the heat valve on my stock exhaust wired open. I was working on the exhaust and unwired it. Should I turn it clockwise all the way and wire it or counterclock wise? Thanks!

If its not sticking it is closed with the engine off.

It appears to be inop so the prior owner wired it open.

Should I have it opened or closed? I'm not sure of its function; does it route heat to the manifold for cold startup? I assume I should leave it closed unless I want that heat all the time.

Closed circulates the exhaust gases to the intake. It also increases the back pressure on that bank of cylinders. It is best to have it wired open.

Thanks! I'll just wire it counterclockwise.
