Default Tip on Voltmeters

Car was running a little sluggish. Noticed Autometer voltmeter, which I recently installed, was reading 12 volts while running. Replaced blue Mopar voltage regulator, and car runs at 13.5 volts. Then put on a replacement Chrysler Alternator from 440source for $59, and now voltage while cruising is around 14 volts. Moral of the story: The more insturmentation the better!

PS Got an electric fuel pressure gauge from Summit in the car for $85. Recently fuel pressure while running dropped to 5 psi. Changed the fuel filter, and up to 6 psi now. Gauges are good!

Without the gauges, would not be running as good, and would not have known why!

The following tip came with the new alternator: The voltage regulator mounting must be clean and tight with no rusty or painted surfaces, or loose connections. Move the regulator plug harness back and forth by gently tugging and bending the wire, and see if voltage/amperage varies, which would indicate you may need a new plug.

That blue regulator is made for short duration driving, not for full time use. It can overcharge and boil out the battery.
