I think I paid around $300 for the cage competition Engineering 8 point for my 73 Duster. Found a couple of fabricators with great welding skills for $ 500 & on a Saturday professionlly installed. I bought the cage off e-bay. You can buy a 10 point out of jegs for $ 249.99 plus shipping made for application with minor modifications 1 3/4 x.134 wall mild steel.

Chrome Moly 4130 tubing is the only way to go if you value your life and the weight savings is great also, Paul.

Ya Paul chrome moly is the way to go. To bad its so much more in price plus to find someone that knows what there doing in welding the stuff. Price quoted for my car down in Tennesee $ 3500. Ill stick with mild steel seeing how it is NHRA & IHRA approved. Kalvin

Chrome Moly tubing is not much more than mild steel in price. If the person doing the cage can't Tig weld, chance are good he's not a pro and the cage may not pass tech. It could save your life, Paul.

Thats why chro moly is so high, as it is all labor welding.
Im not a fan of the stuff, needs to be heat treated after the weld to really make it strong again(not brittle). Hard to do in a car that has a body on it. |

moly is over rated. DOM tubing is fine for what your doing. Like cageman said hard to anneal the tubing back when you have a car attached. just stay away from HREW tubing.

DOM Drawn over mandrel is stronger.
HREW is hot rolled electric welded. Meets the minimum standards. |
