Ya, that will work, and probably make more power. Just need to jet it right, right squirters, etc.
Probably want to upgrade the intake.
Pocket port those heads.

reverse manual valve bodies are pretty awesome!
get rid of all that linkage.
Hard shifts actually make the tranny last longer I've heard.
Got one on my Cuda

Until you need to get out of gear FAST...dropping down (or is it up?) from 3-2-1 at 80 to find N is dodgy, especially with a ratchet shifter.

I have a forward manual and it works great, and a lot more fun to drive to.

I have a TCI racing shifter. The reverse manual valve body allow me to start out in first, pull the lever towards the rear of the car into second, and then pull it over an indent into third. In the past, with a stock 727 shifter, I would start out in first, push up to second, then up to third, and sometimes from third it would slip into neutral and rev to 6000+ rpm. Not good! The reverse manual valve body solved that problem.

Not sure why a forward manual valve body is more fun to drive?

This is the shifter I'm using. Looks a little more like it means business than the stock shifter:

When I said more fun to drive I meant manual over automatic.
