Hydraulic Roller Cam
Hey guys I just got a 1989 360 roller motor with 20,000 miles on the rebuild. It has an eddy RPM airgap intake and a stock roller cam.I was wondering if anyone has ever used a comp 264hr-12 cam in anything. The specs are 210/220 duration at .050,480/480 lift on a 112.I want a little more cam for this motor but it has compression limitations and I don't want to make it a slug.

Surprise!
If that cam acts any like the one I have, it is plenty of cam.
I have the Mopar 5007551 roller cam, 9.75:1 compression, airgap mainfold, 750 Demon carb, 3.23 gears in My demon. It will boil the tires all the way to second gear and then some. Specs are:0.472/0.487 lift, 272/278 at 0.050 and 119 lobe separation. The idle is fairly docile, and the performance is a shocker. I thought I'd bought too little cam. Nope! You'll like your choice. |

I would have thought a roller cam with more duration would be more desirable and would give a lot more power?

I know
That's the surprise with my cam. No choppy idle, no vacuum issues, just good performance. Thumpety cams are good to hear, but it turns out, there are other alternatives. Very stealthy!
