The Frank Lupo Engine Dynamics converter is considered by many as the absolute best Mopar converter. i have a 9&1/2" 3000 stall converter on my 727 with my 318 poly. I talked with one racer who said he went thru 3 converters in one week with his 340 Duster until he got a Frank Lupo unit. Call them and they will tell you exactly what is the best for you.

Well what do you mean by all the time stall? They can't really do that because it goes against physics, because it is all determined by the load, so once you get rolling, it starts going back to 1 to 1, or as close as it can. Also if you go into the trottle easy it will again stall lower than if you flash it, or brake it. What is sounds like you are wanting would be like a clutchglide, or something similar to that, that would give you the results you are asking for here.

That "all the time stall" kinda baffles me too.
Any converter can be built to be loose or tight in the rpm range below the rated stall speed, it's best to contact the converter builder of your choice and tell them what you want from the converter. |

BUT I had some issues with mine when I first got it. High slip %. They didn't want to warranty it, but did so VERY reluctantly. I was importing speed parts to Canada at the time. The guy I was buying through had some pull, so he insisted they make good on it. Left a bad taste in my mouth for sure. There are a few guys over on the moparts board that have been outright screwed by dynamic. There is a guy named Lenny who runs a company called "Ultimate converter" with a good rep. http://www.ultimateconverter.com/ There have been a few guys who have tried him out and are VERY happy with him. I talked to Lenny a few weeks ago, about bumping the stall up in my dynamic. He seems really down to earth. So after talking to him, I sent him my dynamic to make some changes to it. I won't be able to testify as to the results until spring |

Dave, have you heard of Island Torque Convertors in Victoria? Everybody around here runs his stuff and he's supposed to work magic with Mopars, you tell him what your running and he hits the stall right on. He's not cheap but not too bad, he did up a billet faced, 4500 10 inch for me, $1300. It might be a 9 inch now that I think of it, be honest I forget and I can't find the reciept right now.

Your gonna want to think that one over. I put a reverse manual valve body in mine and sometimes when I first started it up it wouldn't move until the convertor locked at 2800, made backing out of the garage an adventure.

You won't find such a beast.

for sure.
there is no such thing. A good converter will move at lower speed like a stocker, and flash at a high speed when you romp it. That is a sign of a GOOD QUALITY PIECE. One that won't move till you rev it up high is a real pos, or there is something wrong in the trans. |

No I have not. I've never used a converter builder on this side of the border. There is a company in ontario called SMR. They have a decent rep too. Pricey though. A friend of mine used them, and had decent results.

Well you can run your tranny a couple quarts low on fluid and it will do this, unfortunately it will not last very long... about the only guaranteed way to get the description you stated above is to get a standard or a clutchflite... Then you can make it "stall" at 6,000 or idle if you're so inclined. |
