Default Big Block Bell Housing?

I was wanting to put an 833 4 speed in my 72 duster which currently has a 727 bolted to a 68 383. Are truck and car bell housing different? My local junk yard has a 76 Big Block Dodge pickup with a 4 speed in it. I was wondering if the bell housing would fit my application.

A truck 4-speed of that era is a bulky unit with a granny low gear, way different than the 833 and it has a different bolt pattern.

Depends on the truck, of course...

Some light trucks, as in pickups, had the A833 in them anyway, from what I can gather. Certainly they did later when the overdrive A833 was around. It also seems that there's a difference in the clutch actuation for the trucks, so you might be in for some fabrication to make that right in a car if it is the right bell for an A833.

Im not trying to use the truck 4 speed just the bellhousing. I have a car 833 on the line I just need the bell housing.

We know that...

If you read my post again, you'll see that I was saying that it's not necessarily the case that the pickup had the 'granny low' NP435 transmission.

If it didn't, it most likely had either an A833 or an A745, some bellhousings suit both of those transmissions, others just fit the individual transmission to which they're bolted.

Take a template of the A833 bolt pattern with you to see if it's the right one.
