Default fit under stock hood??

got a 69 roadrunner, i'm gonna be putting a big block rb with a team g intake, probably a 1" or so spacer maybe a little more, right now its got a satellite hood with a hoodscoop, and was thinking if i wanna put a roadrunner hood, or keep the existing hood, and if it would fit with my setup.

best thing to do is get some playdough, role a big wad in a ball, put it on the aircleaner, and close the hood, then open the hood and remove the ball.
you can then measure how much room you have to fool around with, by measuring the thickness of the squashed playdough ball.

Also, you can get a drop base aircleaner pan, and if necessary, you can have a machine shop mill off a little from the top of your intake.
I had a shop take 3/8 inch off the top of my M1 (which may be a better intake than a Team G)

Answered your question. Meazsure the distance between the hood side rails and the center of the hoods. If they are the same, the clay tells you what to do. If they differ, the clay tells you what to do.

i was thinking about having the benefit of cold air induction with the old roadrunner hoods, but them things aren't cheap, kinda wanting to go with sleeper look, i'm thinking satellit hood, fill in that line that's in it, make a flat hood, maybe a wide, low pro, cowl type scoop, with one of those dual snorkel cold air induction systems..

Hey Toad, see if you can go a week or two without being sarcastic!!
And even with a scoop, there can be clearance issues.

Many times a post can be read and understood different ways, and both
ways can be valid. I think people on this site should be able to offer
their opinion or 2 cents without having to be critiqued, insulted, or demeaned, as to whether or not they properly understood or answered a question.

Don't know what your getting all bent out of shape about, my post was to PL, sure yours was not relevent but his assertion that you'd answered the OP even after it was explaned to him was really off base. I you'd "take your time" and read the posts you wouldn't be getting confused about the questions, the OP couldn't have been more clear and playdough more irrelevent to it. And that's my two cents worth.

My response was not relevent.
His assertion was really off base.
I don't take my time.
I get confused.
Playdough irrelevent!

What I am bent out of shape about is we don't need some arrogant "person"
to personally attack, belittle, insult, or demean someone, when the arrogant "person" disagrees with what has been written. Not sure what your personal problem is, but keep your demeaning insults and putdowns to yourself, or go to some other forum, and bless them with your opinions!

Exactly, see what happens when you take your time.

It's a free country Bob, if you don't like my posts don't read them, yours are so often off base and off topic that I seldom bother with them. Your free to do the same with mine.

The original response is correct. If you have a gaping hole, due to the hood scoop, then use a little imagination. Hmmm... Maybe temporarily attach a piece of sheetmetal, across the hole, then close the hood and measure,

Hmmm, maybe just use a tape measure thru the hoodscoop, if that was the question.

If the scoop opening is big enough, that would work as well.

Don't know if this will help but I have a 69 Road Runner with a 383 and the oval air grabber air cleaner. I have a satellite hood with a six pack hoodscoop mounted on it. The engine has an old Eddy Torker intake on it and I have found that there is not enough room under the hood or into the scoop to put any carb spacers on it. So I doubt any would fit under a stock satellite hood unless you have a smaller air cleaner than I have.

thanks cudabob, i'm gonna have to hit them up... last night i saw a sweet 69 roadrunner with a 440+6, dana rear, 4speed, and that thing looked sweet, i may go with a 6pack hood now kinda thinking about.. what would be better for making tq and hp? a ram air induction, or a hood scoop with a k&n blow through air filter lid??

on my 496 I have a ram air box, with the 4 inch snorkles up next to the headlights. Not only do you get the coldest air, but the air is forced into the carb, kinda like a blower, though on a much smaller scale. So, power wise, the ram air box would be better. Hood scoops look cool, though. I have K&Ns inside and on top of the ram air box.
