Default Proform Heads???????

Met a guy at the local track who swears these new Proform Aluminum heads are the same as Edelbrocks Victor heads. Any one have any luck or bad-luck? I'm building a 538 big boy and want to put a good head on the set-up

that guy on ebay that sells procomp heads swears by em, claims he has em on his blown 500in wedge.... i've heard the main problems with em is the ports have alot of casting flash in em, and the bolt holes for the exhaust don't have helicoils, so i was thinking about getting a set of cnc ported versions, that would deal with the problem of the casting flash, and then put helicoils in the bolt holes... and you can get the procomps with the special offset rocker arms and valvesprings for about the same money as a set of bare victor heads without the rockers or the springs that's already saving about 500 bucks, cnc ported versions just a tad bit more, so you can probably get a set of cnc ported heads that will outflow the stock victors with rocker arms and springs for about the same amount of money if not less than the victors without cnc ported by time you buy the rockers and springs, and have spare cash to go elsewhere..

btw what's a big boy?? i've always heard that term being referred to them giant generic motors engines.

I just like to call it a "big boy" 'cause it's gonna be 538 cid and THATS BIG!

I think after all the reading and research I've done..I'm gonna splurge and go with some Indy heads and do it rite!

For the amount of work I've put in the bottom end,,,I don't ever want to question the top end.
I already did it once and I am soo sorry I scimped where I did.

This build may end up taking a little longer do the "accountant/wife" but I know it will be well worth it. Atleast I still have an r/v BB in it to drive while I'll wait

Indy Heads

You won't be sorry. I am happy I did it right and went with the Indy heads. My 66 runs like a beast.

yeah i think if i had a 538 i'd wanna run the indy heads as well... i MIGHT get the ported proform heads for my 500, they'd be better than the iron heads that are on it now, unless i can find some good name brand heads for a price i can afford...

Default Numbers 500?

Hey "500Coronet", don't leave us hanging. Tell us your build...what'd ya run? HP figures?

I'm runnin 4.10's with dot/drag radials and a tight 727 and my last build was a best of 12.38 but I could't get traction. Since then picked up a set of Cal-Tracs and tossing the 452 heads... Bulldog. It was just a .030 over 440 with well prepped heads but it sure was a lot of fun!
