2005 Magnum R/T engine light and ABS light

Hey everybody, this is a Dodge Magnum with 60k miles. My ABS light started coming on about 7 monyhs ago but it was on and off with no real perfomance issues. Today picking up my son from work while crusing at around 35-40 mph the car seemed to jerk, and then require extra power like the brakes suddenly came on and bling engine light. Moments later bing ABS light. Any ideas on this one? I haven't went to get the codes checked yet since I fear driving it so as not to cause any un-needed damage. Is there any way to check the codes in these things like you could with older vehicles? Thanks.
