Default Chapman Racing Heads

These guys rebuilt some stage VI heads for me, and did a great job.

Below, they do some port work on Stage VIs, and get 774 hp out of a 470 low deck block! If you ever need any head work, check them out!!

Can you elaborate more on the heads? Valve size, Cam and spring specs, flow numbers? I am putting together (or back together) a low deck 451 with Brodix B1 heads. Would be interesting to compare. Are your Lifters offset? If they are it is tough to compare apples to apples. I'm guessing you are running a cam in the Roller range.

MY stage VI heads were just rebuilt to original specs. They has already been ported to flow about 300 cfm on the intake. This was back in 1999 when there wasn't much else out there. I did use 5/16 valves. I had them rebuilt cause a guy screwed up the valve guides, and they were loose. But all my valves were sunk at different depths as well, so Chapman rewelded all the valve areas then put the heads on a CNC machine. May have got 7 angle valve jobs, cant remember.
They put in springs to support my Crower solid roller, 254/258 at .050, .625 lift. I think opening spring pressure was around 470.
I used lightweight JE pistons, so the engine really sings above 5000, and gets to 6500 very fast. All in all, almost a little too scarey for me!! They did all this work for $1300 for both heads. They were great to work with.

The original Chapman heads were different castings than regular Stage VI heads, they were expensive and I think two of the three heads offered used a custom vavletrain. Great performing heads, but expensive.

Sounds nice. As suspected alittle more cam and little more port and alittle more CI then my 451. I am hoping for about 650 horse and your numbers suggests I should be close. That 470 of yours would be fun in the Duster. Is this in a street car?

that 470 is not mine.
I have a 72 Cuda with a 440 stroked to 496
been working on it for 20 years.
pretty much got it where I want it.
one goal: do not get beat on the street!
or, be the baddest thing out there!
of course, there's always someone who can beat you
but they're gonna have to work for it!
