Anybody know if another vehicle's dana 60 would be a swap into a 73 b-body?

I'd pass on a Dana 60. 8 and 3/4 is 70 pounds lighter and will
handle 600 horse easy.

Having fun there at canoe U!

so I was wondering if something like this would be a direct swap...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/CHRYS...item230a40ac0d

the goal is to have spring perches and housing lengths identical for 73 b-body

The '71-'74 B bodies have 47.3" spring centers, nothing else is even close.

In the '71-'74 time frame the Dana 60 was only used in '71 and a few '72 B bodies so there won't be a lot of them out there.

If you're dead set on a Dana 60 and have the bucks you can have a new one built or move the springs inboard and use a Dana 60 from a different body.

No, when the housing width changes so does the axle lengths.

so a little bit off topic, but I was wondering what are my options inside the pumpkin? I've got a general jist of lockers and posis. I am looking for a very streetable car that does well on a strait line, without compromising on handling. I need the differential to take 650 hp. What would be best for my needs? I have never read a good article comparing the different types of traction systems. Thanks

So if I were on the same surface, but one wheel brakes free, will torque be transmitted such that the other wheel will take the load and the spinning wheel catches the road surface again?
