Default differences in RB blocks

I bought a 65 new yorker that originally had a 413. It now has a 72 440. The motor mounts on the cross member are offset with the drivers mount about 2-3" forward. The block doesn't appear to be offset so my question is. Was the 413 offset or is the problem with the mounts?

That's interesting. Are you sure the previous motor was a 413???? If it was a poly originally the mounts would be different like that. That's exactly what happened when a friend tried to put a 440 in a previous 318 car. The engine seemed like it wanted to sit sideways 'cause the drivers side mount was too far ahead. I gave him a Schumacher adapter I had for that application and bingo it fit perfect! Just makes me wonder???

not "POSITIVE" it was a 413. I thought it was the only option. Not too mention the car has every other option. Power windows and seats, a/c etc.

New Yorker, or any Chrysler for that matter, didn't come with a 318 poly. The 413 was the only option in New Yorker.
This page should clarify the subject: http://www.engine-swaps.com/frames/frame_OA65CBRB.html

That would make a difference if it had a poly before and the problem would be as described. The Schumacher adapter would be the cure. I bet you can find out what engine it really came with through the fender tag or some ID. If you're lucky you may find a build sheet under the carpet or seat??

I ran into the same problem years ago. I put a 69 383 into my 65 383 fury. The boses were there, just had to drill and tap 2 holes on the front of the block for the mount. The bosses are just 2 raised spots about 3/4" round. If you don't have them schumacher mounts or some custom fab mounts or move the frame mount may be your only choice...

i don't have any bosses or holes unfortunately. If my research is correct. This is a 65 C body problem only. My first mopar experience has been a challenging one LOL. (not including my turbo neon build)

I've wondered about this......has it been done? Are there any water or oil jackets in this area?

BTW: I don't see a correct Schumacher mount for this problem.

There is water behind. I have no idea of how thick the blocks wall is, but I guess you could drill the holes and tap them, then use a spacer between the block and the mount and use sealer in the threads. If the wall is really thin, and you don't trust the set up, then just plug them with pipe plugs.

Very interesting. I didn't know about those bosses either. I looked at my 440 I have laying in the garage and it's drilled and tapped.

I'm gonna try this. I'll be sure to take pics for those interested. First things first though, I need to finish rebuilding the tranny.

Anyone know what these are worth in average condition? 1965 Newyorker 2 dr hard top.
