"Rat Rod" project...input?
Some I'm almost done putting together the '66 and along comes this '36 Dodge four door sedan that's just frame rails, a rear end, and a body with doors.
I have most of the parts to make it run(i'm pretty mechanically inclined) but need to do the suspension...IS IT THAT TOUGH TO DO? the rear is leaf springs but front is empty set-up would be a 440/727 Any one have a "quick and easy" set-up that they've worked with or done themselves |

I've seen a couple of pre-war Mopars with the entire front clip from a late F-J-M body (which includes the complete transverse torsion bar suspension) grafted to the original frame rails. The assembly should be dirt-cheap, as in find an F-J-M car on it's way to the j/y and cannibalize it. I've never done it myself, though. The F-J-M K member carries the whole front susp. and is attached to the orig. car by 4 mounts. (Yes, I own a J-body Mirada so I'm familiar with the front susp., plus my second car, back in 1954 was a '36 Chrysler 4-door.) I hope you save that Dodge!

Agreed
I've assited on three such projects. They all turned out very well. You might have an issue with steering box clearance with the 440, but it can be done. That one was on a '48 Merc, which is similar in front hood structure to your oldie. The others were a '62 Dodge pickup and a '49 Dodge biz coupe with a 5.7 Hemi.

Dittos on the FMJ stuff. Grab an old Dippy, 5th, or Volaspen for a hundred bucks or so and go to town, man.
