Length difference is 0.1", pin size is also different, the LY pin is in the 1.09" range and the Hemi in 1.03". Don't know about the weight differnece, but I believe it's considerable. The heaviest LY rods I have weight were 870 grams (and in the same engine the lightest was 820 grams)

I don't think either of these are "ideal" for today's increased performance packages. The LYs are really only for motors 500 horse or less and even then it's a gamble. The street hemi rods are stronger but heavier (and $$) I bought aluminum BME rods for my B-block. It is an over kill but the price to weight to performance I thought was worth a look.

$500 for set of over stock rods. This is $100+ less then say Eagle I-beam and much lighter. (though the rod may need some machine work to the top of the rod to get it to fit with your piston. There is plenty of material that can be removed if pin bore is too thick.) I replaced my LYs

Stock 400 LY: 6.768" 850 gram. Stock 3/8" rod cap bolt

BME Hemi Rod: 6.756" (the .012" less length is needed for aluminum flex.)
745 gram ARP 7/16" rod cap bolt. Uses standard Cleverite barrings, and 1.094" piston pin.

These rods are for top alcohol thus more then enough for any week-end warriour. Even if spraying the b-jesus on it.

The rods were matched with Ross 1.3" CR pistons with B-1 65 cc head (About 12.6:1 compression. To the best I can measure) for a 451 stroker motor running E-85 fuel. I'm guessing about 650 horse. The motor started and broke in well, but was not able to run as of yet (Winter come too damn early here in Minnesota.)

Just thought I would share.
