Welcome to the board.
Schumacher has mounts to install the 440 in your '73 Charger. http://www.engine-swaps.com/Pages/ProductsYear/73UP.htm. It would be wise to install larger diameter torsion bars to handle the added weight; small blocks used either .92" or .94" bars while the 440 used .96" or .98" bars. |

Changing to a non-original 440 is not restoration. If there is a chance that you may want to sell the car one day, make sure that you keep the original engine. It will be more valuable with that engine. Don't forget, you will need the 440's transmission as the 340 transmission won't mate up.
The 340 is a great engine that many people want. There is a lot of great stuff that you can do for $5,000. |

I'd run the 340. Mine puts out 400hp w/ W2 heads. For 5k you can do alot.

Your low compression 340 would be a perfect for a supercharger. Might wanna upgrade to a forged crank though.

Also, your small block bellhousing, or whole transmission (if an automatic) will not fit the big block. You could spend a few $K just on that stuff. 340s if built right are super.

Anddddddddd
340's built for purpose run in the low 12's. I'd keep the 340 right where it is.
