Default 452 heads

I have a set of 452 heads that came off my 1975 440 motorhome motor. What I am wondering if 452s are good heads to go with, i know most people say that by the time you do all the work getting them ported and polished that you could buy a set of stealths for less. If i can somehow get a good deal on head work with a machine shop nearby, are they worth it?

I have a set that I replaced with B1s. They serverd me well in a high 10 sec Duster. The valvecover bolt holes are fragile. But they can be ported decent.

They are good stock heads as I recall. Some prefer them over the others. It is kinda iffy as to whether it's worth the money to mess with them. The aluminum heads allow you to run about 1 point higher compression with the same gas octane. I guess it's the cooling that allows it. Also be sure the heads are the same as pass car heads. I seem to recall something about motorhome heads sometimes being different and won't work with the same manifolds??? I don't remember the application but there was someting about that in a truck and/or motorhome.

No block? If all you have is Rods, crank and heads I would DEFINATLY look at a 451 build. The 400 block is far less expensive and will produce more power per cubic inch. The 452 head does work well with both B- (383-400) and RB motors (440)

No, I have a 1975 440 block, i was just saying that everything else was junk except the heads, crank, and rods. Also the 440 i have is what everyone seems to call the "premo" block to have since it has dog-bone shaped coolant passages between the cylinders and a thicker main webbing to support the main bearings. I would like to go with your suggestion but since i already have a block id like to stick with it. But thank you for that info anyways maybe in the future ill build a 451
