Question 727 ??'s and b&m shifter?

ok so my 440/727 combo in 4x4 pickup is what i'm working with here. trans has transgo 2 shift kit, b & m shifter. anywho anyone ever had trouble with b&m shifters not ratcheting in cold weather? worked great all summer now subzero michigan winter and wont ratchet when i hit it. move it slow and shifts so not trans problem. also would a manual valve body be a better idea to making this thing shift when i want! i have to pedal it and get out of the throttle to shift. if so does my shift kit have to go? gov weights going to have some effect? they are stock.

I had nothing but trouble with the B and M shifters, the cable gave numerous headachs, went back to a stock slap stick shifter and troubles ended. I don't know what model you had but I had the Mega shifter, after the first won fell apart I convinced the part store to exchange and the new one was redesigned but still never worked worth a crap. I always felt that the major problem was the bind in the cable when routed from the front around the headers and such, also thought the arm on the trans was to long.

sounds like the kickdown linkage is also out of adjustment if you have to lift to initiate a shift.

The kickdown linkage is out as stated and Yes you lose the shift kit when you replace the valvebody with a full manual.

I had problems w/ their cables binding & locking up from heat gave up on them & went to a Cheetah SCS shifter from Turbo Action. their cable is teflon lined & never gave me any trouble.

Arrow shift

ok so put in manual valve body and have to pull specific shift kit items out like accumulator spring and fluid restrictors and what not out of case i assume. also i figured the cable is out of adjust but when i set it so the cable is all the way forward at wot it just winds up in 1st gear for ever and never shifts! its becoming quite a headache
