Wink

If the trans is a "A727A" it will bolt up to the 340. If it is a "A727B" it will not. The A727B is for a B or RB big block. A '78 could possibly be a model equipped with a "lock up" converter. In that case you may not want to use it.

4130705 came from behind a '79 360 Hi-Po...it's a non-lockup.

BTW, welcome to the board aar709.

That sounds like a good trans to use ('79 H.P. 360). Don't use the converter if it came w/ it, 360's are externally balanced 340's are not. You will have a bad vibration w/ a converter balanced for a 360. Get a different converter or have the 360 one neutral balanced

Good luck finding that, I don't know if there was even a specific trans "model" for that specific car, as far as the date code you could look at hundreds of transmissions and finding the correct date code would be tough.

You just have to take a grinder and cut the weight off of a 360 converter if you want to use it on a 318 or an internally balanced 340.

The T/A trans is no different than the 340-4, part number for '70 is 3410769.
