440 rod strength
What is the agreed upon strength for 440 forged 535 connecting rods? Redline is 6250 and I am using speed pro pistons (trw's). Bonus points is anybody knows the weight of a trw.

Yes the stock 535 ly rods were good, but they are old.The time you get done prepping them, new rods are not much more and stronger, plus you can use the .990 pins. The last trw piston I weighed was about 800 grams!

strength of bolts is probably more critical, and I'd be inclined to go aftermarket to get weight down.

They use LY rods in NHRA Stockers that have the heavy pistons and they seem to last pretty well. There are several TRW pistons for a 440, the heaviest at .060" are almost 900 grams, and the pin is 220 grams. They are often called "tanks" for a reason. Lighter pistons would make the rod live easier too.

I used those rods for years w/ the TRW "cannon ball" pistons (L2295) I always shifted @ 6500. I never had a rod failure always go w/ a good aftermarket rod bolt, the stock ones are a weak point.
