Building a 360 boat motor.
I am rebuilding a 360 boat motor for my 1981 Boat. I wanted to update the boat to more modern quench pistons. The boat has 318 heads also. Is there anything anyone can recommend as far as pistons go. I trying to increase mileage as much as possible.

Quench
I am not real sure on a boat motor if you have to run a different style head due to cooling. But if not just run a flat top piston with as close to zero deck as possible, and maybe switch to a head with a better chamber like a later swirl port, an RHS LAX, or if you dont mind switching lifters and the rest of the valvetrain a magnum style head all of these have much more efficient chamber designs. Even if you dont switch heads higher compression will be more fuel efficient as long as detonation does not become an issue. A more modern style chamber will be less detonation prone. Maybe invest in a wideband O2 sensor and monitor if your boat has a dry exhaust system to tune it further.
