Default New to me '67 Belvedere

Hey Guys, back after a long time!
I picked up a '67 Belvedere II mega project yesterday. I have a few questions;

Its got high back bucket seats in it that I know aren't original, but I dont know if it was buckets or a bench. Does anyone have pics of what should be in there? Were they even available with buckets? I've seen a few picks were it looks like kind of buckets with and arm rest in the middle.

Is there a good resource for reman parts for these! The car has no grill or front bumper. In wouldn't mind GTX parts if thats whats available. I've been out of the loop since I had the Charger.

vin# RH23F75###### (I think the below is correct?)

R = Belvedere
H = Signed / Belvedere II / Sport Fury
23 - 2 door Hardtop Coupe
F - 318 V8
7 = 1967
5 - Los Angeles, CA.

Thanks for any help.

Hopefully this will come to life! Needs quite a bit of cleanup though, and the oil pan doesnt look good. Dented in about 1/2".

That's not a 318, it's a B block, probably a 361 or 383. Looks good!

right, I know its been swapped, its a 440 according to the pad. 4T 440 E so a 1974 cast crank engine.

its in pretty good shape. No rust in the wheel wells or anywhere. (besides the surface stuff)

Yeah that is a real straight car... cool find, also the late model valve covers and TQ were kind of a giveaway that it wasn't a 67' motor...

Screw code correct! I see Petty blue and a big 43 on the door! It's time for you to get a 1&3/4" dia tube bender and a tube notcher bubba! Roll cages make chicks hot! or so I've heard... Big old 413, 426, or 440 badges on the hood, wide 15 inch basset steelies, and a high windin' circle track whine! What are you waiting for!?!?

similar lines to this Mercury:

and if you get low on bucks before the paint job, just make a couple liquor runs to drum up some cash, I got Jake Rainies number if you wanna call 'im...

I'd rather put a well-worked 318 in there, let it turn corners as well as haul down the straights...

Has it got big brakes?

On the subject of seats, I would think that buckets would have been an option by '67. Congratulations on a very nice find.

Believe low-back buckets were an option, as in RoadRunners. If it's a column shifter, though, it prob. had a bench.

so the engine wouldn't crank or turn manually, so I pulled it out. I forgot how easy these things are to work on. little over an hour to yank.

pulled the pan AHHHH CRAP!

Culprit

You can see the cap jammed up in the opposite cylinder.

so now, exploring my options. Checking craigslist for a running one. Full rebuild isnt $$$ possible right now.

Well that isn't something you see every day... you gotta horsewhip a forged rod pretty hard to pull off that stunt.. hopefully the block is still salvageable... I only seen one thrown rod in all of my big blocks, it was in my buddies truck, which he got out of somebody's back yard, and it was totally shot.. I.E. like 15lbs of oil pressure at 4000rpm when hot, would intermittently lose oil pressure. Anyways he got into a fight with his ex wife, got drunk and decided to go fourwheeling.. anyways on his way home it started loosing power, so he shoved it to granny gear (4 speed truck tranny) at 50 mph... that finished it off... threw three rods, and broke the lunati cam I gave him for christmas into many pieces...

Now there's a good excuse to dig up a handsome little Poly and put in it!

ya, I'm hoping the block is ok. I wonder if the smashed in oil pan was the start, then starved for oil maybe. I guess I'll see once I tear it down further.

Something seems just wrong swapping a 318 poly in, even though it would probably save some money.

Picked up another 440. Supposedly only 54K miles on it out of a motorhome. Swapped the pans today, this one had a front sump w/ windage tray, and a funky remote oil filler that tapped into the vent on the pass side.

Default 67 Belvedere II

I have a 67 Plymouth Belvedere that my wife and I bought back in July of 2010.
I have added Primewell P235/70R15 tires, new exhaust system, new front disc brakes and a new gas tank.
The car is blue and silver. I am in the process of having it repainted. We were going to have it done in blue galactic pearl,instead, we are going back to the original color of silver. I am adding seats (bucket) from Summit Racing, new original mirrors and a new steering wheel. The bumper,grill and most of the trim will be painted to look like brushed aluminum

I think that is a beautiful color combo. I don't care for the exhaust tips but that's just preference. I'm a fan of the original turned down tips. Anyway, nice job.

I am definetly into my poly but I really wouldn't put one in a '67 or newer. I'd go the big block route for the newer years.

Default New to me 67 Belvedere

I'm not particularly fond of the tips, either. I plan on putting on a pair that
ressemble the 67 GTX. I think they will look better.
One thing I did forget to mention is the engine in the car is the original 273.

Love the lines on those cars. A nice 440 is a good place to start.
