I've got a similar post .451 build is the title. So far stroker means $6000 . So depending on your budget depends on if you wanna make it that type of motor. If you look on 440 source site they have lots of stroker packages and description on what it is. I'm looking to build a 440 myself or a 451 stroker and that's a 440 crank in a 400 block.

A "stroker" refers to an engine which has a crank with a longer stroke than stock. It involves swapping pistons and rods as well in order to keep the pistons from protruding out the top of the block. Fast way to gain a good chunk of displacement in one shot. Your call. Not a cheap add-on, but worthwhile if you are looking for a lot of low end torque.

Laugh ...been there, done that!

Hey guys! Just built an effin super nasty stroked 440! Went to Summit Racing and ordered the 538 cid Eagle Racing kit. Comes with forged rods, forged crank, Mahle coated pistons, rings and all bearings. Added a 440Source girdle and billet main caps (which need special machining), an external oil system...which is necessary with a stroker, a deep sump pan and I was told my bottom end could support EIGHT HUNDRED HORSE!!!

Stroker kit-$3,500
Girdle-$300 (I think)
Miloden Oil system including pan $1,000
Billet Main caps $350 (Ithink)
Machine work $500

...so as stated earlier, this IS about a $6,000 build but I have to say...
"this effin thing is INSANE!"
I have cast heads that were ported and polished and opened up, bigger valves (2.14 and 1.81 Ferrera Racing Valves) a Victor intake, Hughes performance HTL series cam (.584 and .592 lift) with Comp Cams roller rockers

This motor SCREAMS and I am now having serious traction issues in a 3,800lb Coronet. I was told my current set-up is worth atleast 650 hp and if I went to the Indy 440 BigEZ top-end set-up I would run about 800+ hp out of the box!

Lots of fun and lots of work but well worth it all!

didn't change the oiling system when I stroked my 440 to 496

yeah when you go with a really long stroke like in the 528 you need an external oiling system because of issues with the crank hitting the oil pickup but dude you can go thru 440 source and get a 500in stroker kit for a fair price they even have em bigger than that.... if you were closer to mississippi i would offer you my 500in stroker i have for a really good deal it's been sitting in my roadrunner for about the past year and never been cranked had a baby and all that and all that got put on hold now need to sell the racing stuff to buy diapers lol

Good choice!
Here is one at work: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9rIL4jZiyFI
And here is the first startup: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XWP0j...eature=related
It's a pure street engine, although on a bit radical side. The car weighs 3540 lbs, it has got a Powerglide (don't ask why...), 3.23 geared 8 3/4 with a sure grip and 28" high 275/60 ET Radial Streets. It runs on pump gas and has run a best of 10.46 at 129+ mph. Homeported RPM heads, Team G intake, street roller cam, Dominator, 2" primary headers, 3" exhaust with four mufflers.

Been there done that. About 15 years ago I had to sell me 69 GTX for a freakin Mini van! Still today I have dreams about losing that car. The dream is always the same. I go to the garage. Pull a tarp and there is the car. (Of course the car is hurt and needing TLC)

Wow Dart. Where do you get all your parts in Finland? You must have a big freight bill? I know we have talked a little bit about pump gas, but if I remember right Finland's pump gas is about 98 octane? Wish we here in the States had that. The E-85 option does have some problems that I'm finding. The biggest is the inconsistancies of fuel quality from different sources. But if we had 98 at the pump. Well, that would change some decisions and direction.

Yes, the freight prices are huge nowadays. And customs + taxes are 26% on to that. Forunately for us dollar has been relatively weak lately. Our premium gas at the pump is rated at 98 octane, but it's rated differently. Rated the way you do ((MON + RON)/2) our98 octane pump gas is around 93 octane.
