I've got a chrome mirror for my Cuda that is a little pitted. As you know, these mirrors are expensive when you can find them. Since it is a remote control mirror I don't want to have to mess with trying to take it apart to get it rechromed or have the chrome striped off. Has anybody here painted over chrome with good results, and if so, how did you prep the surface before painting it?

I`ve never had to try this but if I did I would dig out any contamination from the pitting, then feather and sand with 240 grit.
Epoxy primer first then two part putty any holes. Sand with 280,reprimer,scuff and shoot your color. |

I had my chrome remote mirror painted body color since the chrome was pretty faded. It looks great with no sign of flaking or anything after a year. It's a lot cheaper than finding a mint new chrome mirror!I think it looks better also
