Big Block ID help
Pulled another 440 from a motor home and wondering what type of info anyoine had for me?
#'s on side of block are 3698830 440 9 tranny looks like a 727 but has a trans brake or something attached to the back almost resmbling a mini torque convertor....any ideas? Thanks for the help guys! |

Just a plain old low compression(8/1) 440 from the mid seventies. Don't know for sure on the tranny, maybe a emergency brake?,overdrive? Can you post a pic?

That would be the driveshaft emergency brake used on motor homes. Only real problem with 'em is I don't think they'll fit into most pass. car shaft tunnels.

Look at the flat pad in front of the intake manifold, the stampings there will tell all.

Keep in mind some of the industrial 440's had the heavy 6 pack rods. They still had pistons sitting .180 in the hole so compression was 8:1
