I have been desperately seeking cloth to have my front seats recovered. My car is a rare Australian built "Chrysler by Chrysler" hardtop. Searching this country has been long and fruitless so far, has anyone seen this cloth? If anybody reading would send me the name and address of a trim supplier in the US that could have this cloth, I could send some sample that I have been able to score. There is a photo of the cloth and a couple of photos of the car here (BTW this is one of the coolest private mopar sites around, thanks Bruce!)
Thank you everybody for your help! Coupe |

Coupe, nice looking car! I looked the pattern up in my 1972 Original Automotive Fabrics book, but it was hard to tell from the web site picture whether the patterns matched. Try SMS Auto Fabrics 2325 SE 10th Avenue POrtland Oregon 97214 U.S.A. 1-503-234-1175 Fax: 234-0651. I have had good luck finding the older fabrics from them.

Thanks 65, Funny though, the only US store I had so far was SMS, this makes me a lot more confident that they are worth a shot, a couple of weeks ago I sent a sample to them and am waiting for a reply. Where did you get the book you were speaking of? Are they available or rare? Even with my new confidence I would stillappreciate some other options!
Thanks Coupe '72Chrysler by Chrysler hardtop. '74Chrysler by Chrysler sedan. |

Coupe, That is what I do for a living. The books are available to the Trade. Come out once a year with samples of fabrics of materials for all models of American & some foreign vehicles.Been doing it since 1960. Have to stay young somehow, so I Drag Race my 65 Belvedere.LOL That is my theory on the aging process! Good luck in your search. PS; Legendary Auto Interiors, makes the best reproduction upholstery sets that I have ever worked with.

THANK YOU BELVEDERE65!!
What a great tip on the upholstry books- definately one item to remember. I probably won't run out and try to find one, but it's great to know the resource is out there. And I'm glad for a "pro's" opinion of Legendary's stuff- I need to order a set for my '70 Coronet, now I can do it with no worries! AL |
