My mopar has rolled out of the DMV (State of California) system from lack of registration. When it comes time to register, what's the chance of keeping the original plate? Another wild card is that it has a customized plate, but done back in the days when the plate was still blue (versus today's white plates).
If I get resistance from the DMV, what's preventing me from ordering a new (white) plate that reads the same (I did confirm that this configuration is available and it is) but then sticking the blue one on? Do cops care about that kind of thing? I mean, it READS the same. Thanks in advance for opinions. |

I really hate to point you in this direction (being a MOPAR group and all), but the Vintage Mustang Owners Association has several links relating to this and related issues. Go to http://www.vmoa.org
You can also call DMV and ask them. Just tell them that it has been Non-op since the registartion expired and it has not touched the state of California (other than your property) during that time (CVC 4601 (a), 4604 (a), subdivision (d) part 3, 4604.2 (b) and 5050 - 5052).
