Rear End Fluid
If you want a cheap project, I just changed out the fluid in my 8 and 3/4 limited slip rearend, using the same oil, Redline synthetic 75w-90 oil. Only takes two quarts, and it will make your rear end last longer, and make you faster!! Stuff is $15 a quart at Summit. Have had the stuff in there for 15 years, and no rearend problems even though it gets a lot of abuse. I used a little vaccum hand pump to get the old stuff flowing, then let it syphon drain overnight into a pan. Careful, the old stuff can be nasty smelling!! To fill the rearend, I had to use a funnel attached to a 4 ft hose, and run the hose through a hole in the trunk floor into the rearend.

Do you have to use the limited slip additive?

No, the Redline stuff specifies it is for limited slip rearends.
