Default 400 BB project

hey guys i just picked up a 400 block and a forged steel 383 crank and 400 rods and pistons for 200$. i want to make this a high hp engine and what can i do to make a lot of power while still using the 383 crank. The other option would be a 451 stroker what do i need to do this.

383 crank, 6.535" BB Chevy style rods, Ross pistons, 440-1 heads, roller cam, good induction system on alcohol. I ran 7.90's with that combo in a digger. Engine loves to spin, 8200 is nothing for it.

if he gets anything from 440source might as well go ahead with the 500 its the same price for the stroker kit.... but you can get a crank out a 440 and put it in the 400 for a 451... you want horsepower??? i'd go to 440source get a 500 stroker kit it comes with forged crank, pistons and h-beam rods for an inexpensive price last time i checked they were under $1500 aftermarket aluminum heads indy or eddelbrock victors or hell the 440source heads are good dominator carb, super victor intake manifold, a main stud girdle kit, that's just a start depends on how much u wanna spend and how you wanna drive it and how far you wanna go... but definately check out 440source.com they gotta alot of good stuff for decent prices for whatever route you wanna go, but with the 383 crank you will still only have a 400, which they can have power when built right, and i've seen some 400s that would really wake up with a weiand blower sitting on top of it.... and i've seen 451s at the drag strip on alcohol running and you would be like wtf?? was that??? that dude was quuuiiickkk!!!!
