While removing the stock wireing harness this morning on my '66 Belveder, I removed a sub harness that has me wondering what the devil it was. There is a keyed on/off switch installed in the Left rear 1/4 panel about a foot aft of the "B" pillar/door support and about 4-6" below the 1/4 window. This switch has a little flapper cover over it and has wireing that ran forward to the battery positive post, the drivers door light switch in the "A" pillar and to the rear into the trunk. It uses a Mopar style key. What ever this was connected to has long ago been removed. Was this some sort of a dealer installed auxillary light circuit for a trunk light? I can not find any referance to this in the service manual and do not have any pictures to post, 'cause I am computer brain dead.
Any ideas? ------------------ The Old Hippie Hisself Ohippier@aol.com |

Hey Hippie,
Kinda sounds more like an old home made alarm system maybe. You pretty much had to make up your own back then.It used to be fairly common to put the key switch on the drivers side front fender about 3/4 the way down behind the front tire.Used to use electro magnetic switches to detect open doors,trunks,etc.. Dunno, just another guess! |
